Through United Good Neighbors

In 2007, United Good Neighbors of Jefferson County (UGN) allocated $243,000 to 34 local programs that serve 7,000 Jefferson County residents. These are your neighbors. We are a better community when neighbor helps neighbor. We are a better society when we see a need and choose to help.

For 50 years, UGN has been helping the less fortunate. As you well know, UGN is the only united giving campaign in Jefferson County. What you may not know is this…in 2006:

  • The face of UGN300 women and children sought escape from abuse at UGN-supported programs.
  • 1800 children used local UGN-supported food banks.
  • 110 homeless people found a safe place to sleep at UGN-supported shelters.
  • 65 children received counseling for emotional distress through UGN-supported centers.
  • 135 children found a mentor though UGN-supported Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
  • 6,000-plus meals were delivered through the UGN-supported Meals-on-Wheels.

Watch UGN at workUnited Good Neighbors supports local people through hard times. Participation from more households is a key to helping our neighbors in need.
