United Way of Grays Harbor Staff

Lynsi Polanco, Executive Director

Lynsi Polanco joined the United Way of Grays Harbor in May of 2008. In her first year at the helm of the United Way, Polanco and campaign chair Carl Jonsson raised a record amount of $479,000.

Polanco, a Montesano High School graduate, previously worked for the Houston Astros as the General Manager of their rookie team in Greeneville, Tennessee.  During her tenure as General Manager, Polanco was responsible for relocating the team from Virginia to Tennessee and overseeing the construction of a new multi-million dollar facility on the campus of Tusculum College. Due to her efforts in marketing and public relations, the Greeneville Astros led the league in attendance three years in a row, significantly surpassing the other teams in the area.  In 2004 she was named the Appalachian League Executive of the Year by her peers and Minor League Baseball.  Based on her efforts of successfully opening a new ballpark, she was asked to be a presenting speaker at Minor League Baseball’s annual Promotional Seminar.  After the 2006 season, Polanco stepped down from her position to spend more time with her family. 

Majoring in sports administration from St. Thomas University (Miami), Polanco brings a lot of energy and new ideas to the Executive Director position. “My experience working in Minor League Baseball has given me the understanding of reaching out to the various people in the community.  It took creative thinking and trying new things to be successful.  I hope to bring that same mentality to this position and serve the people of Grays Harbor in the capacity they deserve,” she said. “My time away has made me realize what a great place Grays Harbor is.  I love working for the United Way of Grays Harbor, and making a difference in the communities that I call home.”
