How to run a successful campaign.

How to Run a Workplace Campaign

Most employees appreciate having an opportunity to invest in their community – and employee campaigns are the easiest and most effective ways to do it. Employee giving provides the major share of the annual community campaign. It is by that “sharing” that so much is accomplished. Furthermore, employees have fun…from dunk tanks to turkey bowls; companies consistently find novel ways to raise those needed dollars while building camaraderie and a team spirit!

Your first step would be to obtain the support of the key decision maker in your organization. With their backing, the payroll department can initiate the payroll deduction process. At campaign time, employees can easily choose to have a small amount deducted from their pay, and won’t even miss it. Your company becomes a member of the community of investors – receiving public recognition.

Guidelines on How to Organize An Employee Presentation

·        Elements Of A Good Presentation – An effective presentation, held on company time, can be completed in about 15 minutes.

These suggestions save time and afford maximum control over pledges.

o        Give the employees a personalized pledge card, brochure, & pin.

o        Welcome and endorsement of the campaign by the CEO, with an explanation of why the company supports the United Way.

o        Introduction of Employee Campaign Coordinator.

o        Statement of endorsement by labor (if appropriate).

o        United Way speaker and/or United Way representative develops sound case for giving.

o        Showing the United Way campaign video.

o        A question and answer period.

o        Employee Campaign Coordinator concludes by asking each employee to sign their pledge card and return it at that time.

What better time to collect them than after an informative presentation! Employee Campaign Coordinator contacts absent employees on an individual basis

How to Conduct Incentives At The Workplace

The following examples frame the challenge:

ABC Corporation organizes an annual United Way campaign among employees. In order to encourage its employees to contribute to United Way, ABC Corporation conducts a drawing in which various prizes such as extra paid holidays, dinner at a local restaurant, or a color TV set are given only to employees who contribute. The IRS’s position is that the employee donor has purchased a chance to receive a prize, and the chance to win equals in value of the contribution made. The result is that none of the amount contributed is deductible for federal tax purposes
