All donations are tax deductible and stay in Grays Harbor and Pacific County.

UWGH aims to provide community solutions by continuing to focus on four key areas: Helping kids succeed, Increasing self-sufficiency, Improving health and healing and  responding in emergencies.

In 2007, the money raised was allocated in the following manner: A total of $65,803 was given to agencies’ such as the Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, C.O.P.E., Harbor After School, YMCA and Community Youth Services to support the key area of helping kids succeed, which is helping our children and teens grow up safely and develop fully. Programs funded through the agencies addressed such issues as, mentoring, teen parent education, youth and teen programs, and childcare.

The focus on increasing self-sufficiency, which is helping our senior citizens, individuals and families maintain independence and improve their quality of life, allocated $86,666 to agencies such as Long Term Care Ombudsman, Catholic Community Services Senior Companion, Senior Nutrition, Salvation Army, Rebuilding Together, and The ARC of Grays Harbor; which aided in Patient & Employee Advocacy, Volunteer Assistance, Meals on Wheels, Feed the Hungry, Life Skill Classes, Home Modifications, and Skill Building.

Improving Health and Healing focuses on helping local people gain access to health care for their physical and emotional well-being.  A total of $14,066 was distributed to assist in   Home Health Care and Medical Transportation through UW agencies’ such as Harbors Home Health & Hospice and R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program).

Another key area is helping local people through crisis and disasters by Responding in Emergencies.  A total of $121,465 was given back into the community by providing Disaster Response, Emergency Assistance, Food Distribution, Holiday Food Baskets, Food Vouchers, Domestic Violence Shelter, Crisis Childcare, and Crisis Counseling; programs of UW agencies, American Red Cross, Domestic Violence Center, Food Bank Distribution Warehouse, Salvation Army, South Beach Christian Outreach, Children’s Advocacy Center, Catholic Community Services, Behavioral Health and the United Way Emergency Fund.

In addition to the four focus areas, the United Way provides Community Solutions through the Coat & Blanket Drive, which collected over 4,000 Coats and blankets distributed to those in need, 100 Hours of volunteer training and resource development provided to 200 volunteers, and $44,925 Prescription Discount Cards through Membership Services Corporation were distributed due to In-Kind resources raised.
