What is 2-1-1?

An easy-to-remember phone number for people to call for health and human service information and referrals and other assistance to meet their needs.

·        2-1-1 already reaches over 234 million people in the U.S. – 78% of the population. In many communities the information about services is also available through a searchable online database.

·        There are 244 active 2-1-1 systems covering all or part of 46 states (including 31 states with 90%+ coverage) plus Washington, DC and Puerto Rico.  As of September 2008 9,300,000 Canadians -- more than 28% of the population -- have access to 2-1-1.
